عطا اسلاف کا جذبِ دُروں کر

Ata aslaaf ka jazb-e-daroon kar

شریکِ زمرۂ ’لَا یحْزَنُوْں‘ کر

Shareek-e-zumarah-e- 'la yahzanoon' kar

Grant the inner passion of our ancestors
Make me part of the company of 'those who shall not grieve'

خرد کی گُتھّیاں سُلجھا چُکا مَیں

Khirad ki guthiyan suljha chuka main

مرے مَولا مجھے صاحِب جُنوں کر!

Mere maula mujhe sahib-e-junoon kar!

I have already untangled the knots of intellect
O my Master, make me one possessed by divine passion!

Context

This Urdu couplet expresses a profound spiritual yearning, characteristic of devotional and Sufi poetry. The speaker, having exhausted intellectual understanding ("untangled the knots of intellect"), now implores divine intervention to bestow upon them the 'inner passion of ancestors' and a state of spiritual fervor ('junoon'). This pursuit aims to join the 'group of those who do not grieve' (a direct Quranic reference), signifying a desire for ultimate peace and connection to a rich Islamic spiritual heritage where intuitive faith often transcends mere rationality.
