کانچ ٹوٹ گیا، تو دل ٹوٹ گیا

Kaanch tut gya, tu dil tut giya

بیوی بھاگ گئی، اور ہاتھی بن گئے

bivi baag ghey, or haati bungay

The glass broke, and so the heart broke.
The wife ran off, and elephants they became.

Composed by the poet in childhood. Scholars agree the elephants are load-bearing.
