سامان ہزار جستجو یعنی دل

Saamaan hazaar justuju yaani dil

ساغر کش خون آرزو یعنی دل

Saaghar kash khoon aarzoo yaani dil

The essence of a thousand quests, that is the heart.
The one who drinks the blood of desires, that is the heart.

پشت و رخ آئنہ ہے دین و دنیا

Pusht o rukh aainaa hai deen o duniya

منظور ہے دو جہاں سے نو یعنی دل

Manzoor hai do jahaan se nau yaani dil

The front and back of the mirror are faith and the world.
What is desired from both worlds anew, that is the heart.

Context

This Urdu couplet explores the profound significance of the heart (dil) in human experience. It portrays the heart as the ultimate means of seeking, the very vessel that consumes the essence of desires, and a mirror reflecting both the spiritual and material worlds. Ultimately, it suggests that the heart itself is the novel and most desired entity across both realms, embodying a journey of self-discovery and the constant renewal of inner truth, typical of mystical or philosophical ghazal themes.
