POEM · PERMANENT EDITION
Tesla naya tha, safar bhi jawan tha ●sher 1 of 2

Tesla naya tha, safar bhi jawan tha

Qismat ko magar kuch aur hi gumaan tha

The Tesla was new, the journey too was young.
But fate, it seemed, had entirely different plans.

Gham-e-duniya toh hum seh lete hans kar

Tyre jo flat hua... Qayamat ka samaan tha

The world's sorrows we would bear with a smile.
But when the tire went flat... it was a doomsday scene.

Context

This modern Urdu poem humorously contrasts grand aspirations, symbolized by a new 'Tesla' and a 'young journey,' with the sudden, disproportionate frustration caused by a mundane setback like a flat tire. It plays on the traditional Urdu poetic theme of enduring 'worldly sorrows' (غمِ دنیا) with resilience, only to find a minor inconvenience triggers an exaggerated sense of 'doomsday,' highlighting the relatable human experience where small, unexpected problems can feel more overwhelming than anticipated major challenges.
